Multi-award winning South African artist and entrepreneur, Cassper Nyovest, made history on Saturday night when he filled up FNB Stadium to a capacity of 68 000 people.

Cassper Nyovest’s “Fill Up” concept was birthed from the notion that South Africa musicians cannot fill up stadiums without an international act and Cassper Nyovest wanted to dispute that. The definition of “Fill Up” is more than the physical counting of seats but breaking barriers and making history by filling up stadiums to capacities never reached before by a South Africa act in the last two decades and in South African history by a Hip Hop artist.

Cassper Nyovest’s audacity to dream big and take the first steps himself to making his dreams a reality, will forever be written in the history books of South Africa. Cassper Nyovest has changed the music landscape of what is possible for a local act to achieve, and with enough self-determination and support from the country, has proven that local musicians filling up stadiums in South Africa is no longer a dream but a reality he has proven three times over.

“History was made because of you. Thank you for coming and sharing this moment with me,” expresses Cassper Nyovest in gratitude.

The historic journey saw a determined young man from Mahikeng with a vision and dream take on this event with the intent of backing it up with every last cent he had, to entering game day with even more sponsors than previously mentioned.

Cassper Nyovest’s Fill Up FNB Stadium was supported by the following innovating and empowering brands who believed in his vision and dream: SABC 1, Ciroc, Standard Bank, Budweiser, Sprite and The Department of Arts and Culture.

The spectacular event saw Cassper Nyovest put on a Lion King inspired production with 12 meter high “Mufasa” lions as prominent focal points. The stage and production were highlights for many and certainly raised the bar not only for music concerts on the continent but globally.

Cassper Nyovest’s performance on Saturday night also proved testament to his artistic ability and versatility as a world class musician and performing artist. The 50 plus man show saw his performance set fused with street kids he recently found dancing that blew him away, Zulu dancers, models and a full band positioned in cages at the top of the stage.

Currently still a high trending topic in South Africa, prominent South African voices have taken to social media to express their awe, gratitude and appreciation for what Cassper Nyovest’s Fill Up FNB Stadium has done for the country and what it means for them:
