It sure took its time, but summer is finally here! So dust off your flip-flops, get out your short shorts and look after your body. I have put together my top six summertime fashion and beauty tips to make sure you look and feel fabulous this summer:
1. Don’t play by the rules
Patterns and block colour are big at the moment, so why not take full advantage. Wear colours and patterns you wouldn't normally wear together - don’t be scared to stand out from the crowd.
2. Choose summer friendly fabrics
2. Choose summer friendly fabrics
You don’t want to have a sweat on when you’re getting hit on at the beach or on a night out. Wear breathable fabrics like cotton, silk, linen or very thin denim instead of poly-blended fabrics that do not breathe summer fashion.
3. When it comes to make up
You really don’t want it melting off of your face. Use waterproof mascara and lip stain to ensure it will not only survive the heat but a cool swim in the sea too!
4. Closed shoes are not an option when it is 35 degrees Celsius outside
No one likes sweaty feet! Invest in a pair of casual flip flops such as a black pair of Havaianas
5. Spoil your feet
There is no doubt you’ll be walking on the beach barefoot, just remember to take care of your feet by filing down the hard skin with a pumice stone and adding a pop of colour to your toenails with some bright nail varnish.
6. And last but not least - don’t forget to take care of your body. It might sound incredibly boring (and you have probably heard it 100 times before) but spending a lot of time is the sun isn't good for you and has serious repercussions such as sun burn, heat stroke and dehydration – all which can be prevented very easily.
Wearing a high factor sunscreen - which only slows down the rate your tan develops and does not stop you from tanning all together drinking plenty of water is great for your skin and wearing a hat to keep your face out of the sun preventing you from gaining a few extra wrinkles in later years will help you spend all the time you want in the sun safely.
