Hey book lovers, brace yourselves for Christmas in September. Well, Cape Town's coolest book festival is back and around the corner.
Open Book Festival, now in it’s fourth year, has started 2014 off with a bang.Following months of anticipation, they have officially been announced as Guinness World Record holders after Guinness approved their record for the Most Books Toppled in a Domino Effect that was staged at the Central Library, Cape Town, in 2013.
Frankie Murrey, event organiser, added: “ What an incredible way to kick start Open Book Festival 2014. We have also, already, secured renowned authors and are working to ensure that this year is even bigger than before.”
International authors who have already confirmed their attendance are Sebastian Barry,Mike Carey, Raymond E Feist, Aminatta Forna, Felicitas Hoppe and Anthony Loewenstein. For the little ones children’s authors: Satoshi Kitamura and Adam Stower will also be sharing their love of words.
The festival will take place from 17th – 21st September, five days of mingling with authors and book lovers from across the world at the iconic Fugard Theatre, Book Lounge and Central Library venues in Cape Town.
The Open Book Festival team has hit the grown running with mentoring at Westridge High School in Mitchell’s Plain and the launch of Food Jams and Pulp Fiction 3 already underway.No doubt that 2014 is going to be an exciting year.
