South African traditional male choir, Lady Smith Black Mambazo and flamenco fusionists, Gipsy Kings walked away with a Grammy last night in the category for Best World Music Album at the 56th annual Grammy Awards held at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
This is the fourth Grammy won by Lady Smith Black Mambazo.
The other Grammy nominees for best world music album were, No Place for My Dream by Femi Kuti, the Nigerian star and son of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, and The Living Room Sessions Part Two by the late Indian-born sitarist Ravi Shankar.
The South African traditional choir's originality is something to be proud of hence why their success doesn't go unnoticed.
Congratulations!
